OSI Industries Receives Award for Environmental Management

The OSI Group is a food processing enterprise that is based in Aurora, Illinois. The company is one of the major suppliers of meat to the food and retail industry in the United States. OSI bought a former Tyson Foods plant in Chicago in mid-2016. The facility would be shut down by October. 480 jobs would be lost in the process. Only 250 employees remained at the company at the time of the acquisition. OSI Group offered employment to a number of these employees. The company acquired the facility because of its proximity to other OSI plants in the area. This would help to develop infrastructure that would support business growth in the future.

Kevin Scott is the senior executive vice president of OSI North America. He said that it would improve their capabilities to meet the needs of customers. OSI Food Solutions was awarded the Globe of Honor Award by the British Safety Council last November. The enterprise was presented with the award at an awards luncheon that was held at Draper’s Hall in London. The award is presented to firms that have shown excellence in mitigating environmental risks in the preceding twelve months. A representative from the council has to make an onsite evaluation of the company’s facilities in order to be eligible for the award. A committee then reviews the report and ranks each one of them on a star-based system. All the nominated companies received a five-star rating from the audit committee.
